Trainer Chris Waller will line up six runners for the Group 3 Warwick Stakes at Warwick Farm Racecourse this Saturday August 24, 2013.
Amongst the runners is Metal Bender, who will be having his first spring start in the 2013 Warwick Stakes.
The eight-year-old’s most recent result was a win in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse on April 7, 2013.
Metal Bender has won nine of his 22 race starts and has earned almost $1.9 million in prize money during his horse racing career.
Waller would not be at all surprised if Metal Bender made a winning return to racing this spring carnival in the 2013 Warwick Stakes.
“He’s a superstar,” Waller said.
“He has done it throughout his life.”
However, Waller is mindful of the presence of speedy galloper and last start Missile Stakes winner Rain Affair, who will also run in the 2013 Warwick Stakes this weekend.
“On Saturday he will be carrying a few extra kilos, but he does look really well within himself,” Waller said.
“Good horses like him are hard to find. He is well respected.
“I haven’t thought about whether he could win or not. I don’t expect him to win, I expect Rain Affair to win, but I think he will be in for a good preparation.”
