A talented and capacity field of fourteen, including ten Group 1 winners have been confirmed in the final field for Saturday’s featured Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Randwick; offering punters exceptional value from a betting perspective and several key opportunities to place a winning wager.
First Seal ($2.90) has maintained clear favouritism in 2015 Warwick Stakes betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Kermadec ($6.50), Royal Descent ($7) and It’s Somewhat ($7.50).
Will First Seal justify favouritism and win the 2015 Warwick Stakes, or will one of her many talented rivals find the line in the clear?
Royal Descent ($7)
A proven performer over track and distance, Royal Descent is a known first-up performer and offers punters exceptional value for money in 2015 Warwick Stakes betting markets at current $7 odds for success. Undoubtedly the most unlucky runner of the 2014 Spring Carnival, the Redoute’s Choice mare finished second in each of the Warwick Stakes, Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m), Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) and Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m). Allocated the ideal barrier 3, Royal Descent will be partnered by leading hoop Hugh Bowman and will carry a very manageable 57kgs.
First Seal ($2.90)
Having finished outside the first three only twice through eleven career starts so far, First Seal is more than a chance of a first-up win but may need the run to blow off the cobwebs. Returning this year for second in the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) on February 14th, the Fastnet Rock mare returned to the winner’s circle in the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m) on February 28th before finishing a close second in each of the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) and Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (1600m). Sure to be given a gem of a ride from Tommy Berry, First Seal will leave from barrier 6 on Saturday.
It’s Somewhat ($7.50)
Godolphin runner It’s Somewhat is a proven first-up performer and while needing some luck from barrier 11 in the Warwick Stakes, has been confirmed to be partnered by James McDonald and is more than a chance of delivering on good odds this weekend. Beginning his career under the guidance of British trainer Mark Johnston, It’s Somewhat debuted to Australian racing for success in the Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) on February 28th but returned to the paddock following a failed run for ninth in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m).
